Marketing Your Craft Business Online
Posted on 17. Nov, 2008 by Nanette.
Are you gaining the benefits of marketing your craft business online? If you have a craft business, you may have taken a traditional route in your marketing efforts, such as selling your items at craft shows. If you haven’t tried marketing your craft business online, you should give it some thought.
The following are just a few of the benefits to marketing your craft business over the internet:
First and foremost, marketing your craft business online will allow you to reach new customers, from all around the globe. If you’ve been marketing your business in a traditional manner, your customers may be limited to our own location.
In order to reach new customers traditionally, a craft business owner would participate in the craft fair circuit, sometimes traveling hundreds or even thousands of miles away.
Marketing your crafts over the internet will allow you to get your business in front of many new people, all from the comfort of your own home. Even if you happen to enjoy traveling to various craft shows, you can still use the internet to market your crafts between events.
When you sell your crafts online through your own website or through an online marketplace such as www.Etsy.com, you can receive orders anytime, day or night. You can literally wake up in the morning to find that you received several new orders while you slept. This creates an almost passive income element to your craft business.
Many people who market their business through craft shows enjoy meeting their customers and the other craft vendors and establishing relationships with them. While nothing may beat that actual face to face interaction, the internet offers the second best thing with social networking sites.
Social networking sites, which include websites such as MySpace.com, Facebook.com, and Twitter.com allow you to meet and interact with others. These sites can help you find new customers but more importantly, it can help you meet other business owners.
Forming relationships with other business owners can lead to advertising swaps, blog swaps, joint venture projects and more.
Marketing a craft business online helps bring many new opportunities. This doesn’t mean you have to give up craft fairs or other traditional routes of selling your crafts. Combining online and offline marketing will help you cover all of your bases and insure you are making the most of your business.

Finding that elusive work at home job:

Work at Home Scams
Posted on 05. Jul, 2008 by Nanette.
Be alert to possible work at home scams to avoid being caught up in them. There are a few items to look for that should tip you off to a possible online job opportunity being a scam rather than a legitimate job.
Avoid work at home scams but how?
Easy! Be alert to some key points to watch out for. Don’t get impatient and jump at an opportunity without doing your research on the company first. I say this from experience because we all fall for it at our weakest point no matter how smart we are. As difficult as it may be, be patient. Take this information to heart and find out all you need to before you apply.
Red Flags to alert you to an online job scam! Make this your motto: Never Pay for a Job. Legitimate companies WILL NOT charge you a fee to work for them.
- Check the BBB for complaints
- Check scambusters.org
- Get contact information – address, phone number, etc. (If they won’t provide it then I would think they are hiding something)
- Newly established website addresses.
- Personal email addresses instead of company email address – aol.com or yahoo.com instead of (name of company).com
- Network – talk to others looking for wah jobs, check out wham bulletin boards.
- Question those ads that say no experience necessary.
- Check sites lke Yaho Yellow Pages and others to see if the company exists or can be found in their listings.
- Never send copies of personal information to an address or tax number you can’t verify.
- Go with your gut feeling, if something seems fishy or odd to you take that as a red flag.
- Be very cautious when a company wants you to set up accounts or transfer funds. It could end up getting you into a lot of legal troubles (it’s not worth it).
- If a job seems to good to be ture, it probably is.
- Job offers that promise you’ll make lots of money for very little work or very quickly – RED FLAG! Even an away from home job wouldn’t offer this!
- Job offers that ask for a fee other than perhaps a fee for a background check.

I’ve been a telecommuter for a couple of years now. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to learn document coding and I am really glad for the break. I still do some legal document coding. If you’re looking for ways to find a telecommuting job it’s very important to meet others that are telecommuting or looking to telecommute too. Not only are you there for each other when you get down cause nothings been found yet but you also get another set of eyes looking for work at home jobs with you.
Make friends online and they may just end up being able to help you get the job when telecommuting positions open. And you make some great friends to boot! I sure have. And that’s how I got several of my jobs. Friends I had made online gave me recommendations and let me know when jobs became available. Give it a try!
