If you know someone that loves embroidery designs, and appreciates all of the hard work that goes into embroidery, you will love the chance of making that special person an embroidery shirt that they will love to wear. Wether you embroidery by hand or machine, you will find that this is a hobby that many people love. While not everyone is skilled enough to embroidery their own things, you can surprise the people that mean the most to you by making them a special gift.

When you are choosing a design to place onto an embroidery shirt, keep in mind the recipients favorite things. Maybe the person that you are thinking about making this gift for loves flowers and roses. Perhaps they are into the beautiful colors that you find on butterflies or even birds. You could come up with your own design for the shirt that you are embroidering, or maybe get inspiration from pictures that you have been looking at as well. If you embroider by machine, you might have the perfect design in mind. That would be great too, cause it would of course take less time.

Once you have finished making your embroidery shirt to give to that special someone, you will find that there are many cute ways that you can wrap it as well. Maybe take from something that you added to the design of the shirt and wrap it up in pretty paper with flowers all over it in the same colors. Perhaps you could even find a gift bag for the shirt and try to make it as special as possible. There are many ways to wrap a special gift, and you could also match the card as well. If you are into card making, this will not be a difficult job for you to do.

Making a shirt and adding an embroidery design to the front, sides and back of the shirt will be a fun job that you should enjoy. Be sure that you remember the favorite colors of the person your are giving the embroidery shirt to, and anyone that receives a gift such as this will absolutely love it and will enjoy wearing it.

Not all machines that do embroidery are created equal, and finding that perfect one that you want to take home with you might be frustrating to say the least.

When you go to a sewing machine dealer to shop for an embroidery machine, you are going to want to try the machine out before you buy it. This will ensure that you are getting what you wanted in the first place, rather than buying just any machine that you think will do. The sewing machine dealer that you visit, should have many different models set up, and ready for you to try. They will show you all of the nice features as well as point out all of the bells and whistles that you might be interested in any machine.

While you are testing out embroidery machines for yourself, you will want to consider wether you are a pro at embroidery or not. If you have never owned or operated a machine that does embroidery, you might want to make sure that you get a basic machine to begin with. Embroidered items make great gifts. Not only do they have that handmade feel to them, but you can personalize almost anything with some simple embroidery and make it special. Here are a few ideas for gifts you can make if you love to embroider.

Baby Blanket

Embroidered baby blankets make a wonderful, personalized gift that will be treasured for years to come. You can either go with a general embroidered motive like a duck, alphabet blocks or a rattle, personalize it for a boy or girl, or even embroider the baby’s initials in the blanket.

Napkins

Embroidered napkins make a wonderful gift for both a wedding and a housewarming. You can give them by themselves or with a coordinating tablecloth. Embroidery designs can range from flowers to symbols and of course initials. You can buy pre-made napkins and just add the embroidery, or you can sew your own out of cotton, linen or even silk.

Robe

A thick robe is one of the simple luxuries of life. An embroidered monogram makes it even more special and is a great gift for just about anyone. Choose a masculine style of lettering and a darker color robe for a man’s gift, or go with a white robe and some feminine letters to make a special gift for a girl or woman in your life. A robe makes a great birthday or Christmas present for just about any family member or friend.

Towels

Towels are one of the more common gifts given at events like weddings, house warmings or a young adult going off to college or moving into his or her first apartment. Make this traditional gift special by adding some simple embroidery borders to the towels. You can opt for a pair of matching decorative towels, or even make a whole stack of personalized towels from hand to bath towel size.

Shirts & Blouses

Dress shirts and blouses and even t-shirts also make a great canvas to showcase your embroidery abilities. You can embellish shirt collars and pockets with a small design or monogram. For a classic look, choose a thread in a similar color as the shirt or blouse.
For a child, you can do an all out colorful design on a t-shirt. What little girl wouldn’t love a princess or butterfly shirt and the little boy in your family would love to show off his new superman shirt.

I feel sure once you start working on a few of these embroidered gifts, you will come up with quite a few ideas of your own and create wonderful, personal gifts for friends and family.

Choosing Embroidery Shirts for Your Machine

If you have an embroidery machine, you are probably going to find that embroidering a design on a shirt is the most often way that you will use the machine, so, you should know what kind of embroidery shirts you should look for that will hold up under the machine. While some people might think that just any shirt will do, you are going to find that there are some shirts that will hold up better under the pressure of having a design sewn onto them than others. Not all shirts are made equal, and you should be looking for shirts made out of certain fabrics that will do the best when you are embroidering.

Denim embroidery shirts are used most often when someone is embroidering a design onto work shirts for a company. Maybe adding a company logo or slogan to many denim shirts is what they will have an order for. When you use a denim shirt, you will find that the fabric will remain stiff, and easy to stretch for the design. You will be able to pull out all of the wrinkles in the place for the embroidery and the shirt not look warped or lopsided once you are done.

Another kind of embroidery shirts that you can look for is corduroy. You will find that this is another stiff fabric that will hold up well when you are having a design sewn onto a shirt and that you will love the look of embroidery on a corduroy shirt as well. This is a great shirt that will last a long time, and the corded stripes of the shirt will just add to the design. Getting your deigns to come out perfect will take lots of practice when you are sewing designs onto clothing. However, you will need to be sure that you do get lots of practice before you go into business if that is something that you are considering.

While there are many types of embroidery shirts that you can use while you are embroidering on designs, you are going to find that there are also some that you will want to steer clear of. Make sure that you do not promise anyone to put a design on anything that is silk, as a silk shirt will not look right or hold the design the way others will. You will learn from experience what is the best fabric to use for a shirt, and you will love making shirts with your special designs
