Angelic Protection
I believe that in today’s world there is a spiritual war going on and the Lord sends angels to protect us in times of tragedy.

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ forgave you”.
Compassion
Many years ago – I met a pastor who had AIDS. It was my understanding that he contracted this disease through a dental procedure. This pastor had not been immoral or unfaithful – it was just through a dental accident the disease had been received.
The first time I met the pastor and his wife – I could see the hurt in their eyes from rejection. The first thing his wife told me was they were both HIV positive. The pastor’s wife had enrolled in an HIV research program to help others by research. Now, most people would keep their distance and would never shake their hands. I assumed this was because people feared getting the disease.
I had a different perspective on the situation. This was my viewpoint – Jesus touched the lepers and he didn’t receive leprosy.
So, I believed if I shook their hands or gave them a hug – Jesus would protect me. My hugs and handshakes brightened their days and let them know they were loved and God was with them.
People who are sick or dying need that touch from a human. It gives them comfort and peace. The caregivers need to put aside their feelings and fears and give that loving touch. Just knowing someone is there gives comfort. Reading Psalms 91 or if appropriate Psalms 23 can be a comfort to the caregiver and those who are afflicted. In Psalms 91 – the bible teaches about giving comfort. God will never leave or forsake you.
Many caregivers who are caring for a terminally ill person or loved one would appreciate a break. This can be a very draining task – emotionally and physically. Offering to sit with a nursing home resident, terminally ill person or a shut in will bless the person you are sitting with and the caregiver. Quietly reading the Psalms or just sitting and holding a hand will give comfort.
If you don’t know where to find a person to help – start by asking at your local church. There are many places to locate a person in need. Here are some suggestions: Check at a local nursing home, local hospital or volunteer at a hospice agency. Pray that God will send you to a person who you can help and encourage. Don’t be afraid – Jesus will protect you. Just reach out with the love and compassion that Jesus would give!
Prayer: Dear Lord, Please send someone to spread the good news of Jesus and to give that loving and caring touch to those who are ill. Please, help the caregivers to reach out and touch as Jesus would!
In the name of Jesus I pray! Amen!

For most of my life I had been self- employed and so was accustomed to being my own supervisor. Then, I was blessed with a job at a non-profit thrift store. God blessed me with a wonderful supervisor for nine months. My supervisor was very kind and compassionate and always gave me encouragement. I was hired as a manager of this thrift store and my background was child care. So, I had to learn everything and I was at a disadvantage because most of the volunteers and employees had been there many years. My supervisor spent nine months training me to be the best manager.

I realize that the younger generation is not interested in what I have to say about the clothing industry. But before anyone turns a deaf ear, I want to stand up for moms in my age group.
Yes, we may frown at the pants that are worn too far below the waist and blouses worn too high above the waist, but you kids should know something. We saved you from the horrible dark blue jeans with orange stitching.

A few Sunday’s ago, the kids and I were upset because Dad decided to go play golf on family day. To placate the situation, he left me some money so I could take the kids somewhere fun. Since I now had some extra funds, I decided I wanted to take the kids to a place called Bounce U. Bounce U may actually be the eighth wonder of the world. It has a bunch of different indoor, inflatable bouncy things that fill up an entire room and are so big dads can play on it. It a word – it’s cool.

Mornings with Eddie are quite hectic. We get up every morning around 6:00 a.m. he watches Sesame Street while I take a shower. While waiting he drinks his beverage of the day, a cold cup of milk. Once I am dressed for work, I announce “Eddie it’s time to get ready for school.” remembering not to call it daycare because saying school makes him feel like a big boy. It’s almost like I said ready set go instead of lets get dressed because Eddie runs in the other direction and begins weaving around me so that I have to grab him before slipping through my fingers. Finally after about three misses I scoop him up. He says laughing, “You got me, and you got me.” I wrestle him down and put his pants on, while playing this game of catch me it you can, I can get the shirt over his head but he makes a mad dash to hop on his bike and ride around the house. There have been many times when I wasn’t quite as fast putting on his pants and Eddie has rode the bike a’ demi nu (half naked). I feel like I’m watching the Olympics as he moves from one sport to another.
