Enjoy a Day at the Ballgame
Most dads enjoy sports, but many times they do it from the comfort of home. This year for Father’s Day, why not make his sports dreams come true? Make plans to enjoy a day at the ballgame with him as a family.
If you can manage to get tickets for his favorite team on Father’s Day, that would be great. However, there’s a chance they may not be playing locally. Here are some ideas to make this special day a reality and something he’ll remember for a long time.
Begin planning as soon as possible to get the tickets you need for your entire family. It’s quite possible you won’t be able to get tickets for his favorite major league team, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a day at the ballgame!
Call the closest baseball stadium to see if there are any games being played during Father’s Day weekend. If there are, snatch up the tickets you need as soon as you can. Perhaps there aren’t any games at that field. You can ask them if they know about games that are located within a short drive. They may be able to give you that information or at least give you telephone numbers for other baseball stadiums.
Check to see if there are semi-pro teams playing nearby. These teams may play at the same stadiums as the pro teams, but most likely they’ll play while the pro teams are on the road. Of course, if Dad loves baseball, it’s quite possible he won’t care which team is playing. If he has family with him to share the day, missing his favorite team will be a minor inconvenience.
Some major league ballparks offer a Father’s Day special for every father that attends the game. They may be able to get an up close and personal look at the ball field, or possibly meet some of the athletes. You never know what’s available if you don’t ask.
Perhaps it’ll be a couple of weeks before there’s a game nearby. Why not make plans with Dad to attend the next game you can reach? Buy the tickets ahead of time, put them in a card, and give them to Dad on Father’s Day. Then plan on making a whole day of it when game day arrives.
Check the baseball stadium schedule for Dad’s favorite team and pick out a game in the future that you can attend. Hopefully you won’t need to make travel arrangements, but if you do, make those arrangements as soon as you can as well. Of course, your Dad may want to see a big game like one of the playoff games, but less important games will probably be easier to get tickets to.
Expect to spend some time waiting in line to get into the ballpark. You may want to take something to sit on while you wait. Enter the ballpark and find your seat, then you, Dad, and the rest of the family can sit down to enjoy a day at the ball field for Father’s Day – no matter which day you actually go.
