Love that this gate is collapsible

I have this gate at the top of two stairways, and I love it. It is collapsible, meaning the two panels slide against each other when it is open to make the gate narrower. (This is a feature I couldn't find in any other gate.) It makes it much easier to walk around it, or push it out of the way. We tried a different gate a first, but the wide swinging gate was such a nuisance. Other features I like about it: It is solid and strong, and it is unfinished wood so you can stain or paint it if you want. The latch is metal and solid, unlike some of the plastic flimsy ones we saw in stores. (The latch is a little difficult at first, but you quickly get used to it... and kids can't figure it out.) The hinge is simple and the gate can EASILY be temporarily removed when only adults are around - and then easily be put back onto the latch that is installed on the wall/railing. Gates in general are a hassle, but this one makes it as pain-free as possible.

This gate works very well at the top of the stairs. Our problem is not with the gate, it's with our stairwell. The top of our stairs is uneven due to the molding on the walls. We had to add wooden shims to make the wall even with the molding in order to install the gate. Once installed, however, the gate is nice and secure. There's no need to spend the extra money on any of the other top of the stair gates. I would definitely recommend this product.

Bought this and put it at the top of the stairs to keep our toddler from falling. It was light weight wood, pretty easy to install (for a guy). The gate swings open wide. That's a plus when you have stuff in your hands. It has a variable width adjustment. It has a stop plate so you can install it so that it only swings one way in toward the hallway not toward the steps.(added safety feature just in case it does come unlatched - but not likely.) Make sure you have some wood or a stud to hit with the screws if that's possible. I ended up using metal Zip-Its in the drywall on the swing side. (No stud where I needed it.) The Zip-its are rated to hold 80 Lbs each so if you use five I think that's plenty. I put(almost)all my weight on it and it didn't move. On the latch side I was able to hit a stud on the corner of the wall. The directions said to glue or screw a piece of finish wood to the wall but I thought Zip-its would work just as good. That glue will pull the paper off the wall when it's removed. Just don't try putting the screws in the drywall only. Take if from experience it WILL NOT hold up. He jumped on it and rattled it a lot just as I thought he would. But he couldn't budge it. It's Very Very Very Durable if installed properly. Carpenter top rated.

This product was easy to install and I like the fact that the wood is unfinished, so it can match everything else in the house. This gate is taller, so I don't worry about my son being able to climb over it. We also like that it can swing either direction. Great product!

This is a great gate. I bought it to block our hallway, which has an angled entry. It was easy for hubby to install, and it's easy to open with one hand. It will be even more handy when baby starts to crawl!
