Lost In Time

January 25, 2007

It seems like as soon as the day begins it’s over, or the parts we enjoy at least. Our lives are so jammed packed with things to do, we rarely take time to enjoy the things we love. For example take this column I am writing… right now I am on my lunch break trying to enjoy writing and literally three minutes away from picking up my class from recess.

I am still trying to figure out how to balance all I have to do with enjoying the little things life has to offer, but I am getting better. This morning I took time out to play with my daughter instead of rushing her off my lap to get her sister ready. All week I have played with my girls at bathtime rather than rushing them in and out of the tub. I take time to play with them and practice their counting and ABCs instead of just hurrying to prepare a meal for dinner.

I do not want to look back on life and regret all of the preious moments that were missed simply because I had to adhere to a systematic schedule. I want to be able to enjoy my children during their youngest most impressionable years as well as those to come. I’ve made it a point this year to slow down and realize that whatever I am rushing to will be there when I get there but more importantly whatever I am rushing from may be a moment lost in time.
