Has Everyone Been Served? Inspirational
February 27, 2006
Scripture Reading: Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
Thought For Today: “The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30 (KJV)
I was visiting a church in another town and it happened to be the time for communion. The ushers passed out the bread and grape juice. It appeared everyone had been served. The ushers served one another and then the Pastor.
The pastor asked, “Has everyone been served?” I was not expecting anyone to answer. But, then the silence was broken and a man stated: “No I haven’t I am your co-worker at work-I don’t know Jesus.” The pastor repeated again, “Has everyone been served?” A woman spoke up and said, “No-I haven’t I am the grocery clerk. I don’t know Jesus.” The pastor repeated again, “Has everyone been served?” Again the silence was broken and the person stated: “I am from a poor side of town. I don’t know Jesus”
The pastor’s point was not everyone knows Jesus. We meet people everyplace we go-that we need to tell about Jesus. Then he served communion. That is something that really impressed me-How many people on judgment day will say I never heard about Jesus? Will they be the people that we come into contact with each day? It is time to stop and share the good news of Jesus with people we meet each day. Will on judgment day God say: “Well done good and faithful servant for always sharing the good news of Jesus with everyone that made contact with you?”
Prayer: Dear Lord please help me to become the Lord’s humble and faithful servant and to tell everyone about Jesus. In the name of Jesus I pray Amen!
