Overcoming Rejection With The Lord’s help

God Has The Answer To Rejection
In Mark 1:1-6 “Jesus left there and went to his home town, accompanied by his disciples. When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him where amazed. Where did this man get these things? , they asked. What’s this wisdom that has given him, that he even does miracles! Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us? And they took offense at him. Jesus said, to them, Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor. He could not do any miracles there; except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith.” – this scripture shows Jesus being rejected. Jesus faced rejection and continued with God’s plan for his life.
I can identify with this type of rejection and face it daily-but I follow Jesus example by continuing doing the work God has called me to do. In this article-I hope to give insight on how to overcome rejection and follow God’s plan for your life. Just as Jesus did-I will not try to justify what I am doing, get upset or fall into the trap of taking responsibility for other people’s feelings.
There are a few things that must be done to overcome the feeling and hurt of rejection. First, you must see the need to overcome being rejected. Matthew 13:20-21 “The one who received the seed that fell on rocky places is the man who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But, since he has no root, he lasts only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he quickly falls away”. (NIV) This scripture shows if you do not overcome rejection-God’s word will not take root and the person will eventually fall away. The next step would be to realize who you are and what you have in Jesus. Jesus knew who he was and where he was going. John 1:12-13 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” (NIV) If you focus on the fact you are a child of God-then there will be no time to focus on rejection.
You must be on fire for the Lord and focused on what the Lord has called you to do. The only type of rejection that should have an effect on your life is if you turn your back on the Lord and you hear: “Depart from me-I never knew you.”
Many pastors and Christians shrink back at any kind of opposition, gossip or set-back. This was not God’s plan-when you accept Jesus into your heart-you have made a lifetime commitment for living for and serving the Lord. The day I received my ordination certificate-I understood and accepted the call to preach the word of the Lord-until the Lord calls me home. The one thing I have realized is that God can overcome gossip, hatred, jealously, and evil doers. I do not worry about these things-someone will give an account on judgment day for words spoken. The Lord will help you overcome rejection. Just pray for those who persecute you. Then, focus on what the Lord has planned for you. God will provide a way! Remember: God has a plan for you! Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
