Families with 'multiples' also reported struggling to pay off for the "key child-related items" such as school uniforms, bicycles and even taking the children on a holiday. And they also discovered that mothers that had twins or triplets were 20% less liekly to go back to work than those having single children, placing even more financial pressure of the family and therefore increasing the possibilty of divorce.

A survey has found that parents with twins are more likely to end up divorced, broke and out of work, even though they are better off, older and more likely to be married than those who have their babies one at a time. The research on the chaos caused by multiple births, tracked 18,500 families, and found that married couples were 17 per cent more likely to divorce if they had twins or triplets.

The family finance is a crucial factor, for the split ups of the parents with twins or triplets. The mothers of twins are generally not able to return to work after the delivery, like the moms of single babies. So the cost of the childcare can become an important point to blame. Two thirds of multiple-birth families said that they were significantly financially worse off after their babies were born compared with 40 percent of other parents.
