<p><strong>Understanding Calories</strong></p>
<p>Ok&#8230;here goes&#8230; &#8220;calorie is a unit of heat equal to the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of one kilogram of water by one degree at one atmosphere pressure; used by nutritionists to characterize the energy-producing potential in food.&#8221; This is how it is defined as per Wikipedia. <p>The main types of calories include: carbohydrates, fats and proteins. All of them burn when used in the body and then turn into heat energy, which is generally called calories.</p>
<p>Each type of calorie varies in terms of chemical and physical properties. They can be found in various kinds of food, whether alone, in combination or even all of them. Here are the essential things that you need to know about each calorie type.</p>
<p><strong>Getting To Know The Feared Carbohydrates</strong></p>
<p>Carbohydrates are the most common type of calorie. It is found on foods that are rich on starch and sugar. Most of them are from plant-based foods like vegetables, fruits, and grains. Most legumes, such as lentils, beans, and peas, are also rich with carbs. However, dairy products would be the only foods that come from animals which have a lot of carb content. </p>
<p>Typically carbohydrates are classified into two subdivisions: simple and complex</p>
<p>Simple carbs are normally sugars, such as glucose and fructose, which come from fruits and a few vegetables. Another type would be lactose, which comes from milk. <p>Complex types of carbs are actually chains or series of simple carbs, which primarily consist of starches along with fiber, which can be found in all foods that come from plants. However, plants store carbohydrates in the form of starch. Foods that have high complex carbs would include grains and products that come from it like bread and pasta. Also, potatoes, beans, corn, and other vegetables are also high in complex carbs.</p>
<p><strong>Shadowed Proteins</strong></p>
<p>Since carbohydrates seem to be the most popular type of calorie, proteins on the other hand seem to be the most over shadowed in comparison with the fame of fats and carbs. However, it is an important kind of calorie that you&#8217;ll need to develop body muscle.</p>
<p>Proteins have about 4 kilocalories per gram. Majority of this kind of calorie can not be naturally produced by the human body and must originate from dietary sources. The main sources of protein include: eggs, nuts, meats, legumes, grains, dairy products. (And yes some of these are also carb carriers.)</p>
<p>According to recent studies, men between ages 19 to 70 should consume 56g of protein everyday in order to avoid deficiency. On the other hand, women within the same age range should get at least 46g/day. Those people, such as certain athletes consume more protein then average in order to increase muscle mass.</p>
<p><strong>Fats</strong></p>
<p>Fats,would probably be the most unwanted kind of calorie by many. However, it still plays an important role in the normal function of the body. The body cannot absorb Vitamins A, E, D and K if not for it. They play an important role in the maintenance of healthy hair and skin. Protection is another function, since they protect various organs from shock. </p>
<p>Animals and plants both contain types of fats. Types of animal fats would include lard, butter and fish oil, while plant fats would include soy beans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, olives, coconuts, sesames, and vegetable and seed oils.</p>

<p>When sound waves from outside hit the pint-sized, sensitive hairs located in the inner ear, these hairs react to the pressures of these waves. As a result, electrical signals are emanated, and they are transferred to the brain. The signals are then recognized by the brain as sound. However, in case these hairs suffer any significant damage or mutilation, faulty signals are transmitted to the brain and it generates weird whistling, ringing or whooshing sounds. Since these sounds reach the ears of the affected person, even in the absence of any source of noise, (s)he gets to hear these unusual sounds. Tinnitus is the medical term given to these situations afflicting a person.</p>
<p>There are several factors that bring about these problems. Several other triggers which can spark off these causes can also be detected. Since tinnitus can be caused by a multiple set of factors, experts need to be extremely careful while analyzing them. As a case in point, sinus-related complications act only as a trigger, and are not, in itself, one of the underlying reasons of tinnitus. On the other hand, a high level of blood pressure is generally viewed as one of the most important underlying causes of the disease. Such blood pressure problems can be a direct result of an erratic lifestyle led by the person. A heightened level of stress is another cause. These causes of the disease can only be eliminated if a holistic method of treating tinnitus is adopted.</p>

<p> Excess stress-levels or a depressed state of mind: Tinnitus can occur even when one or both the ears is apparently okay, and medical tests also do nothing to prove otherwise. <p> Accidents affecting the head and/or neck: If these accidents affect the nerves, patients can experience severe neurological problems. The proper way of working of the brain is also affected, and tinnitus problems can result.</p>
<p> Advancement in age : As a person goes beyond 60 years of age, (s)he usually becomes progressively more and more senile. This phenomenon is also known as Presbycusis, and can rob the affected person partially, or even totally, of his/her hearing abilities.</p>
<p> Having to hear sounds at high volumes: This is also a probable cause. If a person has to continuously hear noises at extremely high pitches, a constant ringing noise seems to be audible to him/her, even when there exists no such source. For example, this is common in people who are employed in stamping mills or forging jobs. Tinnitus problems can also result from the shot guns that are rather heavy, and have to be placed on the shoulder for firing. Also, if individuals are constantly exposed to the loud beats of music at night clubs, they are prone to tinnitus attacks.</p>
<p> Amount of ear wax : There is a maximum limit till which ear wax can accumulate within the ears. When the deposits of ear wax go beyond this limit, tinnitus is a likely outcome.</p>
<p> Atherosclerosis: It refers to cases when deposits of cholesterol constrict the blood vessels of the human body. When the blood vessels of either the middle or the inner portions of the ear are affected, tinnitus can be a direct result. The inherent elasticity that accounts for other cardiac functions are also lost as a result. The affected person hears such auditory impulses as hissing or whooshing noises, apart from other pulsating sounds. Both the ears are affected in such cases.</p>
<p> Blood pressure related issues : The level of blood pressure can go up considerably due to the presence of excessive amounts of cholesterol in the arteries. In a logic similar to the one discussed above, these deposits bring down the supply of blood to the neck and the head, thereby causing tinnitus. However, holistic treatments can solve these problems at an early stage.</p>
<p> Neck or head tumors: Such tumors put a very high degree of pressure on the blood vessels of the head and the neck. Also known as vascular neoplasm, these tumors can also result in tinnitus.</p>
<p> Improper formation of Arteriovenous connections : Many people suffer from tinnitus problems that originate from an incorrect formation of the connections that bind the arteries and the veins. When, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) occurs, tinnitus generally affects one of the ears of the patient.</p>
<p>Cause of Tinnitus: Certain Medicines Also Play A Part</p>
<p>There are certain types of medicinal drugs that can bring about tinnitus problems. In fact, some of such medicines can increase the intensity of the disease as well. </p>
<p>The medicines that are generally held responsible for aggravating tinnitus problems can be listed as under:</p>
<p> Various types of antibiotics, including erythromycin, chloramphenicol, bleomycin, tetracycline or vancomycin.</p>
<p> Cancer-treating drugs (e.g. Vincristine and Mechlorethamine).</p>
<p> Diuretic drugs, namely, ethacrynic acid, bumetanide or furosemide.</p>
<p> Quinine drugs, which are widely prescribed to treat malarial problems, and other diseases of a similar nature.</p>
<p>Even aspirin can result in giving rise to constant ringing sounds in the ear, particularly if individuals are in the habit of taking high doses of the medicines, and that too, over a long time.</p>
<p>The term multilateral disorder is associated with tinnitus precisely due to the fact that, it can be caused by many factors. All the underlying reasons of the problems have to be properly detected so that a cure from the disease can be obtained. However, conventional modes of medications seldom reach deep enough to detect the chief problem-creating factors. Only the symptoms of the disease are treated, accounting for the extremely low rate of success. Unlike these methods, the holistic mode of treatment considers the entire body to be a single unit, and suggest medicines accordingly. <p>School Problems</p>
<p>Parents usually arrange home school teachers or alternative schools for bipolar children with special classes for those of high academic potential. One of the biggest problem with bipolar children is because they are uncontrollable and so branded bad kids who are always getting into trouble. While some children want to continue on their education, a lot of teachers are just not willing to cater for these children. Schools have to act on what it deems best for their students and that is the fact. Because of the uncertainty of their attitude bipolar affected children are not accepted everywhere especially among their schools mates.</p>
<p>Do not Know What to Expect</p>
<p>Around bipolar disorder children, they say that there is never a dull moment. They act out their bipolar disorder symptoms with visible signs by way of words or actions which can take everyone by surprise. These children can be in high phase one minute and down to low the next. Just about everything and anything can turn their emotions.  When they are angry they can hold anything, throw at others and threaten others or themselves. And straight after their anger they will apologize. The other trademarks is being defiant to any kind of leadership and words such as; what will you do about it when they are asked to stop doing what they are doing can be heard. Teachers in school have experienced children telling them that they know better.</p>
<p>Double Symptoms</p>
<p>Is when a diagnosis is similar to that of another but are in actual fact different. In other words there could be two disorders experienced at the same time, one of which is bipolar and the other similar yet hard to differentiate.</p>
<p>Being Misdiagnosis</p>
<p>If  children are not diagnosed you can be withholding appropriate treatment that will make them sick longer. And when we call somebody bipolar who isnt, in actual fact are preventing them from having the proper medications.</p>
<p>Look for the Right Diagnosis</p>
<p>A good doctor should spend enough time with parents, finding out the different bipolar disorder symptoms and all the other comorbidities, given all the complexities of this disease. The child should be given time to air their feelings. Teachers or psychologists should be asked for past and current evaluations. Because it can be several months to one year in order for the doctors to say with confidence that your child has bipolar disorder symptoms, you may have to see those doctors more than once.</p>

<p>There are so many types of “health bars&#8221; and &#8220;protein bars&#8221; on the market today, how do you know if you are actually getting something healthy or just junk food in disguise?</p>
<p>Just as with grocery store food choices, you really need to know how to read labels if you&#8217;re going to stand a chance at finding a truly healthy food bar.</p>
<p>To be quite honest, most of the bars out there are pure junk.  Candy bars disguised through labeling as a health food bar.</p>
<p>I am going to go over one supposed health food bar as an example.  I know they are not the only ones like this so I will leave the name brand out.</p>
<p>The first ingredient in this bar is corn syrup! Sugar is the second ingredient (hooray more sugar!), followed by hydrogenated oils (source of deadly trans fats). After that, there are artificial flavors, colors, artificial sweeteners, more hydrogenated refined oils, and rounded out with some highly processed soy protein isolate (which despite popular belief, processed soy is NOT healthy for you) just to give your body some more junk.  I know a lot of people think zero calorie artificial sweeteners are better than sugar, but there is a lot of research that indicates they may actually be worse because of all the chemicals that go into making them.</p>
<p>So not only are these &#8220;weight loss&#8221; bars a disaster nutritionally for you, but the bars usually taste absolutely horrible! They taste like chemicals and are way too overly sweetened (not a surprise with all of the sugar, corn syrup, sugar alcohols, AND artificial sweeteners). This is a prime example of over-engineering of food.</p>
<p>So how do you know if an energy bar is good for you?<br />
I look for simplicity in a good bar. The last thing you want is to sabotage your <a href="http://www.alkalizinglife.com/lower-ab-workouts.html" target="_blank">stomach exercises</a> with junk food.  Many of the healthiest and tastiest bars I&#8217;ve found have only a couple basic ingredients such as nuts, seeds, and fruit. I also look for organic ingredients and raw ingredients if possible.  These are better for you and usually taste better than their over fertilized cousins.</p>
<p>A couple of my favorite truly healthy bars:</p>
<p>1. Organic Food Bars &#8211; This is actually the brand name.</p>
<p>Depending on which flavor, these are usually a base of organic almond butter (or cashew butter) with a certain type of fruit, organic seeds, organic biosprouts, and some organic rice protein. Some flavors include an organic dark chocolate as well. They also have a line of bars that use exclusively raw ingredients.</p>
<p>Not only are these bars extremely nutritious, but I think they are delicious as well and have a lot of flavors to choose from such as chocolate chip, blueberry, cranberry, high protein, and more.</p>
<p>You won&#8217;t find these bars at your local grocery store, but I have found them at several health food stores.  You can also search the internet and find places to buy them by the case or contact a near by health food store and see if they will ship them to you by the case.  Health food stores are usually very helpful in trying to get you what you need.</p>
<p>2. Larabars &#8211; These are even simpler in ingredients than organic food bars. Usually larabars are just 2 or 3 ingredients, and mostly raw&#8230; a blend of crushed nuts along with a type of fruit is the usual combination, but they have a lot of different flavors so it can vary.<br />
These are also delicious and you will NEVER see a list of chemicals a mile long in their ingredient list&#8230; usually just nuts and fruit, and that&#8217;s it! Simple IS better. This is a very high quality bar. Again, you probably won&#8217;t find these at your local grocery store, but I&#8217;ve found these at various health food markets.</p>
<p>When you actually find truly healthy bars like these examples above, they make great quick snacks while you are traveling or while you are at work.  If you keep things like this around, it makes it easy for you to have a healthy snack when you get the munchies or your belly starts grumbling.</p>
<p>I carry some on me almost at all times, just to make sure I have healthy options to eat whenever I need a quick snack, so that I am not tempted by fast food joints or junk food vending machines.
