Today or Tomorrow

Thought For Today: Proverbs 27:1 “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.”

Soon it will be a New Year. Many will make New Year’s resolutions and plans for the New Year. As you plan for the New Year put God first in your plans. As a child I always wrote down goals for the New Year. Now, unfortunately my goals were usually never fulfilled. Today, I usually do not set goals because I know I will have no control over what will happen today or tomorrow. The Lord must guide my steps and prepare the way for me. The only goal I have is to live my life so it is pleasing to the Lord. As the New Year approaches – why not make a goal of putting the Lord first in your life and to allow him to guide your steps.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

James 4:13- 15 “Now listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say; if it is the Lord’s will we will live and do this or that.”
