Trudy-Being A Servant

Trudy
On Sundays I go to a nursing home to minister to the people who live there. At this nursing home is a dog named Trudy – she loves visitors. Everytime I arrive there – she always comes and sniffs my shoes. After, she decides I am trustworthy – then I pet her and talk to her for a few minutes. Trudy is a very special part of that nursing home – she seems to know when someone needs a friend.
Some people view nursing home ministry as a waste of time and energy. Sometimes, it can be a challenge to preach there – because their attention span is limited and they can’t hear or see as well as they should. Just as Trudy does what she can to bring happiness – I try to brighten the residents lives with the love and compassion of Jesus!
Someday – we all will be old and lonely – dependent on others. I take comfort in knowing that gray hair is a blessing from the Lord.
Everyone of those people have a story and some of them have been faithful to the Lord. While others may not know the Lord or perhaps once knew the Lord – this is the opportunity for them to make things right with the Lord.
God wants us to reach out and help those in need. Are you reaching out to serve others for Jesus?
